Toad Poisoning on Dogs

I noticed that my dog, Sophie didn’t ate her lunch and dinner last Wednesday (June 20) and I wonder why. When I woke up on Thursday she acted differently for she’s not that active anymore. I sensed that something is wrong and I’m already worried.  Lunch time, she didn’t eat again so I decided that I will bring her to the vet because she looks weak.

I remember that last Tuesday night after the rain, she was barking non-stop in the garage and all along I thought she just saw a stranger outside the gate. When I looked, I saw that she’s barking and trying to bite a super big brown frog!!! I’m afraid of frogs so I yelled and told my sister to get it out of Sophie’s way. That incident led me to thinking that she was poisoned by that bull frog. Arghh..

I Googled toad poisoning and I got scared when I learned that some frogs can kill dogs in just a matter of 15 mins. Some frogs are poisonous bec. they secret substance that can irritate or poison dogs.  Learning that, I hurriedly rushed Sophie at her vet and her doc said she’s indeed poisoned bec. she’s already weak, and has some foaming on her mouth yay!

The doctor immediately injected her some antidote for the toxin and also can help protect her liver. She’s also taking LIVEROLIN and multivtamins 2x a day for 7 days.

Thank God, I brought her to the vet early and that saved her from being dead. She’s still a bit weak yesterday but I patiently give her the medicines and made her eat so she will not be confined.

Look, last night she became active already and she wanted to go out already!

The Power of Reading

People say that reading is power. I remember a friend way back in college loves to read all the time. I've been accompanying her to buy books of different kinds and even borrow books from the library back then. I always envy her passion for reading and up to now she still reads. Her enthusiasm for reading made her one of the best in language in our class. How'd I wish I have the same passion as hers.

I know that wide readers are very creative, imaginative and well-versed. These days, with the advent of technology, book lovers sometimes don't need to have physical books because they can have electronic books using her kindle.

Skinny

I was doing my daily morning check of my email, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts when I happened to see a friend's photo on her FB profile. Wow she really looks very different! She's too skinny and I suspected that she might be reading lots about how to lose weight at http://www.shoppharmacycounter.com/t-phentermine.aspx for years now. Personally, I didn’t like her look right now, it’s far too different when she was a little chubby with her cheeks being prominent.

Oh well, I guess she has been wanting to look thinner that’s why she changed and it’s her body anyway. I’m skinny too but it’s not because I’m dieting or wanted to lose weight but I reckon this is already my body structure as I’m always been this way since then. An ectomorph for life, I guess.

Today… Thursday

Today…

Outside my window…the sun is up. Typhoon Ambo left the country already so it’s a bit hot and humid again.

I am thinking…of what to wear and bring on our future trip to SG and what is our itinerary. It’s also makes me think of the happy times ahead with my mom and siblings.

I am thankful for…all the blessings I’m continuously receiving eventhough I sometimes fail to pray.

From the kitchen…I’m cooking pork Nilagang with lotsa veggies in it. I know it’s already warm and that dish is not apt for the weather but I can’t think of anything to cook.

I am creating…a list of everything I need and things to do (scrap or design)

I am going…to have another haircut this weekend. I’ll just ask my hairdresser to trim my hair a bit to make it more polished. I’m also going to the mall and look for the best picnic table that we can also use on our picnics and also to bring on Nov. 1 at the cemetery.

I am hoping…that my bro and our town will win even (2nd or 3rd place) at the paint your town on a gown competition

I am hearing…the sound of the ice cream man outside. I think it’s from Selecta.

Around the house… I’m just alone but our clothes washer is outside doing her work.

One of my favorite things…my new Keds shoes and bag! haha.

A few plans for the rest of the week…nothing much. I still need to work, work and work but on Sunday, it’ll be church day and lazing around.

A picture I love:
My baby Sophie after I trimmed her coat to show her eyes.

Another Home Project

Finally done with the re-painting project at our house last March and now I'm thinking of yet another project. I guess it’s a never ending home improvement so I need to save once again. I bought new appliance last year and last Christmas so it’s time to buy new furniture. I’m thinking of buying a sofa and also one of those monitor mounts where we can mount our Samsung LCD TV in the living room.

I thought of putting or fixing it on the wall so I can save more space. The old TV mount is kinda taking a lot of space in our sala already so I reckon it’s best to remove it already. I’m pretty sure mom will not approve my idea but I will convince her to the max.

School Year 2012-2013 Starts

School Year 2012-2013 here in the country already has started on June 4. Students are back to school after almost 2 months of taking their summer school vacation. A lot of students are eager to go back to school while others are still having some hang-over from their vacation. Unfortunately not all schools are prepared especially those in public schools for there are some schools that still lack school rooms, books, teachers. It's so sad to know that some of the classes have more than 50 students to 1 teacher per room. Not only the rooms are not prepared but I think a lot of students, parents and even teachers are not prepared for the new K+12 education system that started this year. I hope the government can address all the issues.

Anyway, I just heard at the news that a Chinese school in Manila is implementing a rfid, Radio-frequency identification (RFID) system on their student IDs. Once the student enters the premises of the school using his ID, a text message will be sent to their parents allowing them to know that their child is already in the school. This is done as one of the precautionary measures in their school.

Hello June !

Hello rainy season!

Wow, I can’t believe that May just gone by without me posting all the events that happened to us that month. Arghhh.. I have tons of photos and stories to tell and I hope I will have more time to make blog posts about them. I can say that May has been pretty good and hoping that June will be good as well.

It’s also the start of the rainy season. In fact, typhoon Ambo (1st typhoon for this year) has already left the country. Opening of school year 2012-2013 with the K-12 education system also started on June 4. W

Career Choice

We all have dreams and goals in life and attaining them really depends on us. We need to be passionate in what we are doing, we need to sacrifice, study hard, and do whatever it takes to reach that goal. Never quit as they say. If your career choice is in the beauty business then go for it. There are lots of beauty schools and one is cosmetology school if you are in the US. With many years in the business, they already know the ABC of beauty. With qualified instructors and great facilities, you'll never go wrong.
Beauty industry is making waves and jumping in the bandwagon is a good option especially if you really love making others look beautiful. Just put our heart in what ever you do and in your chosen career and I’m sure you’ll succeed.
